James Stewart Allison was born in Blairgowrie in 1887, the son of Charles Keir Allison and his wife Agnes Jane Stocks Baird Allison. He worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland at its London office.

 

During the First World War Allison joined the army, and by 1917 was serving as a Second Lieutenant in the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders). He died of malaria in Greece on 18 September 1917. He was 30 years old.

 

James Allison is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh
