Cyril Alfred Spencer Buck was born in 1895, the son of James Boden Buck and Janet Buck. In 1913 he went to work for Parr's Bank.

 

Early in the First World War Buck left his job at the bank's London Cavendish Square branch to join the army, serving as a Private in the London Regiment. He went to France in August 1915, and while serving there was awarded the Military Medal for his conduct. In May 1917 he was commissioned. Second Lieutenant Buck of the London Regiment was killed in action in Belgium on 26 October 1917. He was 22 years old.

 

Cyril Buck is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
