In December 1908 Bassano applied for, and obtained, a job in Crompton & Evans' Union Bank. This bank was acquired by Parr's Bank in 1914, and Bassano became an employee of the much larger merged bank.

Edward Bassano is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Allenton Derby branch.
