Norman Henry Bright was born at Ebbw Vale, Monmouthshire, on 1 December 1893, the son of the Reverend William Henry Bright and his wife Amelia. He was educated at Keighley Grammar School and West Leeds High School. After leaving school Bright went to work for Union of London & Smiths Bank.

 

Early in the First World War Bright left his job as a clerk in the bank's Lincoln Smiths Bank branch to join the army. Lance Corporal Norman Henry Bright of the Lincolnshire Regiment died in France on 15 October 1915. He was 21 years old.

 

Norman Bright is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
