Reginald Baden was born on 5 June 1893, the son of Herbert Edwin Baden, a clerk (later manager) in an engineering company, and his wife Blanche Ada. After finishing his education, Baden initially worked as a clerk for a wholesale chemist's company, but in November 1912 took a job with London County & Westminster Bank.

 

At the outbreak of the First World War in 1914 Baden left his job at the bank's London West Ealing branch to go on active service in the army. By 1916 he was serving as a Second Lieutenant in the Bedfordshire Regiment. He died in France on 26 June 1916. He was 23 years old.
