Arthur Richard Cole was born on 21 March 1895, the son of Arthur Cole of Exeter. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its Exeter Exeter Bank branch.
During the First World War Cole joined the army, serving as a Lance Corporal in the Royal Army Medical Corps. He died in France on 10 April 1918. He was 23 years old.
Arthur Cole is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
