Donald Capper

Donald William Capper was born in 1894, the son of William Newton Capper, a Wrexham auctioneer and valuer, and his wife Clara. He was educated at Grove Park, Wrexham.

 

In January 1913, when he was 18 years old, Capper went to work for National Provincial Bank of England as apprentice at its Denbigh branch. He later transferred to Rhyl branch.

 

Capper joined the army in October 1915, serving as a Private in the 26th (Bankers') Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers. He was killed while on sentry duty in Belgium on 16 August 1916. He was 21 years old.
