Douglas Christie Claydon was born on 15 June 1882, the son of Henry and Susan Christie Claydon. He started working for Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Banking Co in February 1900.

 

During the First World War Claydon left his job at the bank's Nottingham branch to join the army, serving as a Private in the London Regiment. He died in France on 18 August 1917. He was 35 years old.
