George Henry Chatham was born in 1887, the son of James Henry Chatham, a bootmaker, and his wife Jane Rebecca. From about 1904 he worked for Parr's Bank.

 

During the First World War Chatham left his job at the bank's Wembley branch to join the army. Second Lieutenant George Henry Chatham of the Royal Fusiliers was killed in action on the Somme on 23 November 1916. He was 29 years old.
