Leslie Couldridge

Bank: National Provincial Bank of England

Place of work: Bristol branch

Died: 26 September 1916

Leslie Couldridge was born on 22 November 1897, the son of a wine and spirit merchant. He was educated at Bideford Grammar School and a private school in Clifton.

Couldridge had an older brother, Walter, who worked for National Provincial Bank of England at its Tiverton branch. Perhaps through this family connection, Couldridge himself secured an apprenticeship with the bank, starting work in September 1914 at Bristol branch.

In January 1916, not long after his 18th birthday, Couldridge left the bank to go on military service. Private Leslie Couldridge of the Middlesex Regiment was killed in action in France on 26 September 1916. He was 18 years old.
