Leslie Donald Craske was born on 29 September 1882, the son of Edmund John Craske, a bank manager. In January 1900, when he was 17 years old, Craske himself went to work for his father's bank, London & County Bank. In 1909 London & County Bank merged with London & Westminster Bank, and Craske became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In July 1916 Craske left his job as a clerk at the bank's Reading branch to go on military service. Rifleman Craske of the Rifle Brigade was killed in action on 28 April 1917. He was 34 years old.
