Reginald Bertram Clive Chopping was born on 4 May 1893, the son of Walter Clive Chopping and his wife Alice Maud. In about January 1911 he started work for National Provincial Bank of England as an apprentice at its Birmingham branch. Upon completion of his apprenticeship three years later he stayed on at Birmingham branch as a clerk.

 

During the First World War Chopping joined the army, serving as a Private in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He died in France on 28 August 1916. He was 23 years old.
