Reginald William Crotty was born in 1899, the son of William Crotty, a leather manufacturer, and his wife Violet Lily. In about 1915 he went to work for Parr's Bank, working at its Hampstead and Haverstock Hill branches in London.

 

In April 1917 Crotty left the bank to join the army, serving as a Private in the Northamptonshire Regiment. He was killed in action in Belgium on 19 September 1918. He was 19 years old.
