Harold Edward Dyson was born on 24 April 1893, the son of Henry and Hannah Dyson of Sheffield. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its Sheffield Union Bank Branch.

 

In the first months of the First World War Dyson joined the army, and by 1916 he was a Second Lieutenant in the York and Lancaster Regiment. He died in France on 30 July 1916. He was 23 years old.

 

Harold Dyson is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
