Robert Hunter Dunn was born in Lanarkshire in 1883, the son of Joseph Dunn, a mercantile cashier, and his wife Lilias. He worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland.
During the First World War Dunn left his job at the bank's Glasgow Alexandra Parade branch to join the army. Lance Corporal Robert Hunter Dunn of the Royal Scots Fusiliers was killed in France on 24 April 1917. He was 34 years old.
Robert Dunn is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.
