Reginald Ewell

Reginald Clive Ewell was born in Surrey in 1891, the son of Alfred Edward Ewell, a bank worker, and his wife Elizabeth. He followed his father into banking, going to work for Parr's Bank. He also became a member of the bank's staff sports club.

 

During the First World War Ewell left his job at the bank's London Bartholomew Lane office to join the army. By 1919 he was a Colour Serjeant in the Grenadier Guards, and had been awarded the Military Medal. He died in Germany on 17 February 1919. He was 28 years old.

 

Reginald Ewell is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives where his name is given as Ronald.
