Andrew Millar Ferguson was born on 16 March 1881, the son of George and Mary Ferguson. In September 1901 he went to work for National Bank of Scotland as an apprentice at its Glasgow office. He transferred to Glasgow Paisley Road branch two months later.
During the First World War Ferguson joined the army, serving as a Private in the Highland Light Infantry. He was killed in action on the Somme on 18 November 1916. He was 35 years old.
Andrew Ferguson is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Gogarburn campus, Edinburgh.
