Clarence James Ford was born in 1899, the son of the Reverend John Ford, a Baptist minister, and his wife Ann. He worked for Bradford District Bank at its Leeds Markets branch.

 

During the First World War Ford joined the Royal Air Force. Second Lieutenant Clarence James Ford was killed while flying in England on 3 May 1918. He was 18 years old.
