Norman Finlayson

Norman Gilbert Finlayson was born in India on 16 July 1884, the eldest son of Gilbert and Frances Charlotte Ellen Finlayson. In July 1905 he went to work for National Bank of Scotland as an apprentice at its Edinburgh Leith Walk branch. He was promoted to a clerkship there in July 1908.

 

During the First World War Finlayson joined the army, serving as a Private in the Seaforth Highlanders. He died on 10 April 1917 of wounds received in action on the Western Front. He was 32 years old.
