Wilfred John Frampton was born on 14 May 1893, the son of Joseph Frampton and his wife Mary. On his 17th birthday in 1900 Frampton went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In October 1915 Frampton left his job as a clerk at the bank's Ashford branch to join the army, serving as a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. He was killed in action in France on 4 December 1917. He was 24 years old.

 

Wilfred Frampton is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Ashford Kent branch, where his forename is spelt Wilfrid.
