William Fenwick

William Fenwick was born in Streatham, London on 8 October 1886, the son of William Henry Fenwick, a clerk, and his wife Sarah Ann. In December 1903, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for London & County Bank. In 1909 London & County Bank merged with London & Westminster Bank and Fenwick became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In July 1915 Fenwick left his job at the bank's London Finchley Road branch to join the army. By 1918 he was a Second Lieutenant in The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment). He died in a German prisoner of war camp on 22 May 1918. He was 31 years old.
