Gerald William Kynaston Griffin was born on 16 September 1892, the son of Gerald Henry Griffin and his wife Florence. In August 1909 he went to work for Manchester & Liverpool District Banking Co as a junior. He was promoted to a clerkship in 1913.
In June 1916 Griffin left his job at the bank's London office to go on military service, becoming a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. He was killed in action on the Western Front on 10 January 1918. He was 25 years old.
