Ralph Gandon was born on 26 July 1896, the son of Henry Gandon. In November 1913, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In early August 1914 Gandon left his job at the bank's London Lombard Street branch to go on military service. Second Lieutenant Ralph Gandon of the Dorsetshire Regiment was killed in action on 26 September 1916. He was 20 years old.

 

Ralph Gandon is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
