Archibald Deans Henderson was born in Glasgow in 1898, the son of Alexander and Christina Henderson. In May 1914, when he was 15 years old, he went to work for the Royal Bank of Scotland. He later moved to Glasgow Plantation branch.

 

In June 1915 Henderson left the bank to join the army, becoming a Private in the Highland Light Infantry. He was killed in Belgium on 9 November 1917. He was 19 years old.

 

Archibald Henderson is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh
