David Lumsden Hunter was born in Glasgow in 1882, the son of David Thomson Hunter, a commercial traveller, and his wife Elizabeth Lumsden Hunter. He worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland at its Bathgate branch.

 

During the First World War Hunter joined the army. Gunner David Lumsden Hunter of the Machine Gun Corps died in Belgium on 24 July 1917 of wounds received in action.

 

David Hunter is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh
