Ernest Arthur Hubbard was born on 16 June 1889. In July 1909, when he was 20 years old, he went to work for Birkbeck Bank. In 1911 Birkbeck Bank was acquired by London County & Westminster Bank, and Hubbard became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In January 1916 Hubbard left his job as a clerk at the bank's London Covent Garden branch to go on military service, becoming a Private in the London Regiment. He died on the Western Front on 7 June 1917. He was 27 years old.

 

Ernest Hubbard is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London Covent Garden branch.
