Frank Harrison was born in Eccles in 1897, the son of Edwin Harrison, a bank worker, and his wife Margaret. In October 1912 he went to work for Manchester & Liverpool District Banking Co as an apprentice at its Manchester King Street branch. In February 1915 he moved to head office, also in Manchester.

 

During the First World War Harrison left the bank to go on military service, becoming a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. He was killed in action on the Western Front on 27 July 1916. He was 19 years old.
