Frederick Bishop Hicks was born in West Ham, Essex, in 1897, the son of Frederick John Hicks and his wife Elizabeth Frances Kate. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its London Cripplegate branch.

 

During the First World War Hicks joined the army, serving as a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. He died in France on 29 April 1917. He was 19 years old.

 

Frederick Hicks is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
