Bank: London County & Westminster Bank
Place of work: Blackheath branch
Died: 31 August 1916

George Fritz Hingston was born to British parents in the United States of America on 20 January 1893. His father George Henry Hingston died while Hingston was a child, and Hingston and his mother Florence Alice returned to England. In 1905 she married Arthur James Tadman, a bank clerk. The family lived in London.

Hingston's stepfather worked for London County & Westminster Bank, and on his 17th birthday in 1910 Hingston, too, went to work for the bank.

During the First World War Hingston left his job as a clerk at the bank's Blackheath branch to join the army. By 1916 he was a Serjeant in the Royal Sussex Regiment. He was wounded in action on 31 August 1916, and died on his way to the dressing station. He was 23 years old.
