Guy Leopold Plucknett Halfhead was born on 12 April 1885, the son of Thomas William Halfhead and his wife Emily Harriet. In 1901 he went to work for Manchester & County Bank. The branch where he started is not recorded in the bank's archives, but in February 1903 he transferred to Colne branch.

In November 1915 Halfhead left the bank to join the army, becoming a Bombardier in the Royal Field Artillery. He died on 1 June 1917 of wounds received in action in France. He was 32 years old.
