Holt Charles Hewitt was born on 29 July 1888. In May 1909, when he was 20 years old, he went to work for London & County Bank. Five months later, London & County Bank merged with London & Westminster Bank and Hewitt became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In November 1915 Hewitt left his job at the bank's London Lombard Street branch to go on military service. By 1917 he was a Sub Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. He was killed in action on 23 April 1917. He was 28 years old.

 

Holt Hewitt is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
