Laurance Herbert Hebditch was born in Yeovil in November 1896, the son of William and Alice Frances Hebditch. From about 1913 he worked for Parr's Bank.

In April 1916 Hebditch left his job at the bank's Tiverton branch to go on military service, becoming a Private in the London Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 14 October 1918. He was 22 years old.
