Lees Hyde

Lees Hyde was born in Ashton-under-Lyne in 1888, the son of Lees and Ann Hyde. In April 1903 he went to work for Parr's Bank.

 

During the First World War Hyde left his job at the bank's Manchester branch to join the Royal Flying Corps, becoming a 2nd Class Air Mechanic. He died on 8 December 1917 of wounds received in action. He was 29 years old and left a widow, Helen.

 

Lees Hyde is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Manchester City Centre branch
