Sidney Howkins

Sidney Howkins was born in Crick, Northamptonshire, in 1892, the son of George Howkins, a farmer, and his wife Sara. In 1910 he went to work for Northamptonshire Union Bank at its Oundle branch. He moved to Leicester branch in 1911 and then to the bank's Northampton head office in 1912.

 

In 1915 Howkins left his job at the bank to join the army, becoming a Private in the Northamptonshire Yeomanry. He was killed in action in France on 30 October 1916. He was 24 years old.
