Wilfred Spence Haddock was born in Farnworth, Lancashire in 1891, the son of Thomas Cross Haddock, a bank worker, and his wife Emily Margaret. In about 1907 he followed his father into banking, going to work for Parr's Bank.

 

During the First World War Haddock left his job at the bank's Garston branch to go on military service. By 1917 he was a Second Lieutenant in the South Lancashire Regiment. He died on 16 July 1917 of wounds received in action in Salonika, Greece. He was 26 years old.

 

Wilfred Haddock is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Liverpool Allerton Road branch where his name is spelt Wilfrid Haddock.
