William Thomas Chester Hart was born on 26 September 1898, the son of Walter Hopkirk Hart and his wife Clara Edith. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its London Princes Street office.

 

During the First World War Hart joined the army, serving as a Rifleman in the London Regiment. He was killed in action on 28 March 1918. He was 19 years old.

 

William Hart is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
