Donald Edgar Jackson was born on 4 November 1896, the son of Alexander Henry William Jackson and his wife Margaret Jane. In September 1915, when he was 18 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In May 1916 Jackson left his job as a clerk at the bank's London head office to go on military service, becoming a Private in The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). He died of enteric fever and pneumonia on 11 March 1917, at a casualty clearing station in France. He was 20 years old.

 

Donald Jackson is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
