Eric Irvin Jones was born in London on 6 March 1897, the son of James and Clare Irvin Jones. In April 1914, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In January 1916 Jones left his job at the bank's London Brentford branch to join the army. By 1918 he was a Second Lieutenant in the London Regiment. He was killed in action in Palestine on 22 March 1918. He was 21 years old.

 

Eric Jones is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London Chiswick branch.
