Ivor Norman Jones-Parry was born in London on 23 April 1893, the son of Thomas Jones-Parry, a clerk at National Provincial Bank of England's head office, and his wife Selina Alfreda. In 1909 Thomas Jones-Parry was appointed manager of the bank's branch in Haverfordwest. The following year, when Ivor was 17 years old, he started work there as an apprentice. He completed his apprenticeship three years later, and in June 1914 moved to the much larger Bath branch as a clerk.

 

In June 1915 Jones-Parry joined the army. By the time of his death two years later he was a Lieutenant in the Royal Garrison Artillery. He was killed in action in France on 12 May 1917. He was 24 years old.
