Eric Hugh Lindeman was born in London in August 1891, the son of Oliver George Lindeman and his wife Constance Ellen. He started work at Drummonds Bank in June 1911, and by 1914 was a clerk in the ledger department.

 

Early in the First World War Lindeman left the bank to join the army, becoming a Private in the Honourable Artillery Company. He went to France at the end of December 1914, and died of wounds received in action there on 13 March 1915. He was 23 years old.
