Francis Burrows Lloyd was born in Shipston on Stour on 8 February 1895, the son of a clergyman. In August 1913, when he was 18 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.
At the outbreak of war in August 1914 Lloyd left his job as a clerk at the bank's London Lombard Street branch to go on military service. By 1916 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Devonshire Regiment, on active service on the Western Front. He died there on 3 October 1916. He was 21 years old.
Francis Lloyd is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
