Guy Cecil Laurence was born on 9 July 1897. In March 1915, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In June 1916 Laurence left his job as a clerk at the bank's London Lombard Street branch go on military service, becoming a Private in The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). He died in Belgium on 12 October 1917. He was 20 years old.

 

Guy Laurence is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
