Howard Little

Howard Wright Little was born on 1 February 1886, the son of a master cooper. In June 1902, when he was 16 years old, he went to work for National Provincial Bank of England as an apprentice at its London St Martin's Le Grand branch. After completing his apprenticeship he was promoted to a clerkship, and in January 1909 transferred to London Strand branch. In July 1911 he was promoted to a more senior clerk's grade, still at Strand. He was a member of the bank's staff sports club.

 

During the First World War Little served as a officer in the navy, and was mentioned in despatches. Sub-Lieutenant Howard Wright Little was killed in action in the Dardanelles on 19 June 1915. He was 29 years old.
