James Latham

James Latham was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, in 1895, the son of Percy Latham, a commercial traveller, and his wife Sarah. He worked for Glyn, Mills, Currie & Co in its head office on London's Lombard Street.

 

In August 1914 Latham left his job at the bank's Town Office to join the army, becoming a Rifleman in the Royal Fusiliers. He was wounded in action at Pozières, France, and died of his injuries two days later, on 15 August 1916. He was 21 years old.
