Stanley Edward Lukyn was born in Sunbury, Middlesex, in 1895, the son of Herbert Lukyn, a dental surgeon, and his wife Edith Mary. In December 1913 he went to work for Drummonds Bank.

 

During the First World War Lukyn left the bank to go on military service. By 1917 he was a Captain in The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment), attached to the Flying Corps, and had been awarded the Military Cross. He died on 10 April 1917 of injuries sustained in an accident during flight instruction. He was 22 years old.
