Alfred Horace MacGregor was born in Liverpool in 1883, the son of Alfred and Fanny MacGregor. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its London Regent Street branch. He was also a member of the bank's staff sports club.

 

During the First World War MacGregor left the bank to go on military service. By 1916 he was a Captain in the London Regiment, and had been mentioned in despatches. He died on the Western Front on 10 September 1916. He was 33 years old.

 

Alfred MacGregor is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office and on another held at NatWest Group Archives
