Donald Walter McGregor was born in Willesden on 5 December 1887, the son of Walter Sinclair McGregor, a teacher, and his wife Mary. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its London Princes Street office.

 

During the First World War McGregor joined the army, becoming a Lance Bombardier in the Royal Garrison Artillery. He died in France on 12 February 1918. He was 30 years old and left a widow, Laura, whom he had married in January 1917.

 

Donald McGregor is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
