George Mann was born on 7 September 1879. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its London Southwark branch. He was a member of the bank's staff sports club.

 

Early in the First World War Mann left the bank to go on military service. By 1918 he was a Serjeant in the Royal Fusiliers, on active service in France. He died there on 8 October 1918. He was 39 years old and left a widow, Kate Elizabeth.

 

George Mann is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office and on another held at NatWest Group Archives
