Maurice Maguire was born in London on 27 June 1897, the son of Thomas Maguire, a mercantile clerk, and his wife Kate. In about 1915 he went to work for Parr's Bank.
In June 1916 Maguire left his job at the bank's London Cavendish Square branch to go on military service, and by 1918 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Cheshire Regiment, on active service in France. He was killed in action there on 21 August 1918. He was 21 years old.
Maurice Maguire is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
