Owen Loftus Maddock was born in Kent on 20 April 1897, the son of Richard Maddock, a clerk, and his wife Elizabeth Jane. In March 1915 he went to work for Coutts & Co.

 

During the First World War Maddock left the bank to join the army. By 1916 he was a Second Lieutenant in the London Regiment, on active service in France. He was killed in action there on 7 October 1916. He was 19 years old.

 

Owen Maddock is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Coutts & Co, London 440 Strand.
